The Sabin Vaccine Institute invites you to submit a nomination for the 2015 Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal Award. The Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal has been awarded annually since 1994 to a distinguished member of the research community who has made extraordinary contributions in the field of vaccinology or a complementary field. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015,during the 18th Annual Conference on Vaccine Research sponsored by NFID in Bethesda, Maryland.
The Nominee has had a major impact in vaccine research and development or has materially improved access to vaccines for neglected and at-risk populations.The Gold Medal Award, commemorating the legacy of the late Dr. Albert B. Sabin, is awarded based on the following criteria:
- The Nominee has left an indelible imprint toward the improvement of public health.
- The Nominee’s work exemplifies the Sabin Vaccine Institute’s mission to reduce needless human suffering from vaccine-preventable and neglected tropical diseases.
- The Nominee should be a scientist, medical researcher or public health advocate – not a philanthropist.
- The Nominee may be an individual or a small team.
How to Submit a Nomination
To nominate a colleague for the Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal Award, kindly provide a one-page written explanation of the nominee’s most important vaccine research or advocacy contributions and why you believe they are particularly qualified to receive this award (CVs are welcome). Please submit your nomination by no later than Friday, November 21, 2014 to the following email address: goldmedal@sabin.org.
Nominations are submitted in strict confidence and will be reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of previous Gold Medal Award recipients, led by Dr. Philip K. Russell.
